I am an ESO fellow at the European Southern Observatory in Chile. After obtaining a PhD at Lund University in Sweden in 2004 (thesis), and before joining ESO in 2007, I spent three years as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, USA. My time at ESO is split 50/50 between duties as a support astronomer on the Very Large Telescope (VLT) at the Paranal observatory in northern Chile and my own scientific research, carried out at the ESO offices in Vitacura, Santiago. My research focus on the origin and evolution of stellar populations and kinematical structures in the Milky Way (more on research).
